Prince Harry Donates £1.1 Million to Children in Need During UK Visit

Prince Harry has made a deeply impactful personal gift—£1.1 million—to BBC Children in Need, marking one of the most significant charitable contributions publicly made by a member of the British royal family. The pledge was announced during his visit to Nottingham, his first engagement in the UK in five months.

BBC Children in Need, active since 1980, supports over 1,500 charities and initiatives across the UK, with total fundraising exceeding £1 billion to date. Now, Harry’s donation will support youth programs especially in communities in Nottingham affected by violence.

During the visit to Nottingham’s Community Recording Studio, Harry described the donation as a “significant investment” in grassroots changemakers, aiming to foster safe spaces and cultivate trust, hope, and belonging among local young people.

Nottingham holds personal significance—Harry has supported organizations such as CRS and Epic Partners since 2014 through The Royal Foundation. This visit reconnects him with causes he remains passionately committed to, despite no longer serving as a working royal.
